For Synology NAS to NAS fill-in, wait at the Hyper Backup add together-on.

I have set it upwardly before and it works well. I also am enlightened of a company using this method that got striking with ransomware. The item strain of ransomware managed to notice the remote box and manipulated an unpublished Synology vulnerability that immune root access and ultimately wiped the drives. Other than this particular trouble the method works well. Adding an airgapped backup in the mix is recommended.

Thank you for you repsonse so you setup the Nas to Nas backup with HyperBackup over the internet using quickconnect and it worked fine?

How would you setup a AirGapped system to foreclose what you lot mentioned happened?

You either do a VPN or y'all open up and forward the ports that Hyper Backup needs on both sides.  Like I mentioned above, past opening those ports you lot are trusting any Synology has in place regarding security, vulnerabilities, etc.  VPN is well-nigh e'er the right path for something like this.

Utilize the offsite Synology box as a VPN customer and the master i as a VPN server (with required ports adjusted and forwarded + ACL). This way, the offsite Synology will punch into the principal box and PULL backups, which is expert in terms of security and performance. Make sure to automate that backup copy job to initiate and drib the VPN connection when finished.

An culling option would be using an intermediate public deject tier which both units will utilise to synchronize their backups with Deject Sync or RClone utilities. That is nice since it automatically provides you lot with an additional cloud tier. Only don't utilise Azure and AWS for that purpose. Too expensive https://world wide web.vmwareblog.org/looking-affordable-cloud-storage-aws-vs-azure-vs-backblaze-b2/.
